Was searching the web for information on my own Cao family in China, my grandmother was Chinese, i am part Chinese myself. I saw your posting, i know it may seem a long time ago now when you posted this question, but i have alot of information on the Cao family name and origins. If your adoptive daughter is really a Cao, she will be related to me and my Chinese family and most likely share the same heritage. You say that she came from an orphanage in Jiangsu province? my grandmother and her family also came from Jiangsu, Nanjing actually.
