TOY is one of England's oldest surname's, as opposed to an English spelling of a Chinese pronounciation of a surname. Possibly originating from Germany/Saxony or Scandinavia in the early 800-1000's. Auric Toy is listed as a mercenary during William the Conqueror's invasion of England in 1066.
It's not a well know or common name with just small pockets of the name appearing in England, even today.
