The main sticking point of the descendants of Charlie Soong adopting this surname is the fact that, as well now know, numberous members of this new 'Soong' family, powerful and renowned though they may be, have acquired a reputation for being money-grubbing, pretentious and prime examples of the nouveau riche. Surprised? Don't be. Whilst they may have achieved so much as individuals, many still remember the people they trod over to climb to the top.
