Hoi Ping is the district next to Toi Shan. There were a lot of border disputes b/w the 2. A friend went back and what was a part of Toi Shan when her dad left is now Hoi Ping. Toi Shan is more well known I think b/c of sheer # of people that emigrated from there and I think it's bigger so people say Toi Shan otherwise they would have to say it's right next to Toi Shan.
The male side of the family has been here off/on since I think the turn of the century, but b/c never settled here didn't have the proper papers and ended up buying them when it was time to settle (right b/4 Mao took over).
