I've always been interested in tracing my Chinese roots. Recently my father passed away and while going through his things I came upon an original certificate of identity for my great grandfather. Aparently somewhere along the line he changed his name from Hom Yon to John Lee. He entered this country at San Francisco on September 21, 1912. He was 47 years old at that time. All I know beyond that is that he somehow relocated to Rhinelander Wisconsin. He ran a laundry there. Married Viola Cornwall sometime around 1919. Had 5 children. 4 boys and a girl. My Father, Donald being the oldest. I would ask my dad about his dad but he didn't know anything about his dad's past. There was apparently an Uncle in Chicago that my father would go to visit when he was little. Probably in the early 30s. Unfortunately I don't know his name. But i know that he used to play with some kids there named (surname)Chin. And one named Rosy Chin. Any information about Hom Yon directly or indirectly would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
