: : Can you help me trace what the origin of the Limcangco last name is from?

: Lim is the surname of your Chinese ancestors in the old country. Cangco is, perhaps, the given name of your ancestor who first settled down in the Philippines.

: Lim is a Hokkien variation of Lin(Mandarin) and Lam(Cantonese) surnames. This means that your ancestor came from southern Fujian province

: Lim also happens to originate from the Hangchao(Techew/Tehchew) province. Because of their proximity to Fujian, the two dialects are often confused(the even sound similar). It is strongly believed that both the Fujian and Hangchao Lims are related, but I haven't been able to find proof.
