My great grandfather was also Ah Kew , he came from Hwang Chung, Ngai Sai, Canton China about 1857, although dates are scetchy. He settled here in Wahgunyah, Victoria, for over 40 years. He had an arranged marriage, a bride came out from China and they were registered in 1887, they had six children. It is believed he also had an Australian family before he married my great grandmother.
In 1901, he left to return to China,with his family, to die as he was sick. He died 3 months later in March 1902.
l have a book written by my uncle, which says Ah Kew also had an older brother, who also came to Australia, but later returned to China.
The whole family returned to Australia, wife and surviving children to Australia, after the fathers death some 10 years later.

: My great grandfather came from Canton to Australia on the ship English MARINER in 1875. He went to the Victorian gold fields. The only infomation I have is his name as listed on the ships papers, AH KEW. He was born about 1849.
