Surnames website?
Also, if you could upload an image of the Chinese
characters from the gravestone (there are websites
that will store gravestone pictures for free),
it would be most useful to volunteers who want to be helpful.
If the surname is Wu No.89, I have a genealogy book that lists all known ancestral villages
(in Chinese characters).
I was able to find my father's ancestral village
in that list and find the name of the original
settlor.
Last year I visited that village in Kaiping.

: I am researching my wife's genealogy and her grandfather HOY SING had a brother named SING YAO WU (20 years apart in age). Supposedly they came from the following place (transliterated by an old Chinese fellow from Shanghai) Guangdong, Kay pin (sonds like), Lui Kung (sounds like), Tsung (or Chang) Chih. I have the handwriting (from SING YAO WU's gravestone in Cinn. OH) but do not know the correct roman letter transliteration of this. Thank you for your help.
