I want to make some amendments to my message posted on 8/21/2001 re my grandfather SUNG YAM. I have only just learnt that he didn't come from Quemoy, but from TONG AUN, which I believe is a village in the province of FUJIAN. His father, my great-grandfather, owned a salt yard, and my granddfather, being the only son, was given the name YAM, which , means salt in Hokkien. and thus he became known as SUNG YAM.
