I am researching the history of the so. Death Valley region from years 1890-1922. It seems, according to local legend ( and I find this legend to be in great doubt) that a Chinese gentleman, named by some historians as Quon Sing and by others as Ah Foo, to be in the historical mix around the years 1890-1900. My query: Would it be possible that Ah Foo and Quon Sing were one and the same person ( just as my real name is Miriam, but I use Mim)? Would it be credible that a person of Chinese ethnicity would be given a huge ranch and farm for "being a good mining servant" in those days given the prejudice and bigotry rampant in the USA West at that time towards Chinese? I am puzzled by the two names of the supposedly same person? Can anyone shed any light on the problem by clearing up mystery of names? Thanks. Your web site is ever so welcome to researchers. Keep up the good work. Mim Romero
