I agree with Al Chinn. Tee (also romanized Ty)
is the Hokkien pronunciation of the surname
Zheng (Wade-Giles, Cheng; Cantonese,Cheng);
another Hokkien pronunciation is Tay (also
romanized Tey or Teh). The Japanese pronunciation
of the Zheng character follows the Hokkien
pronunciation and is romanized Tei.
The Zheng clan was established in 806 B.C. by
a prince in the Chou clan. The Chou emperors
are descended from the Chi clan.
So your family's written history goes back
three thousand years and the oral history
maybe a couple of thousand years further
back.
One clansman, either Teochiu or Hokkien, drove
the Burmese from Thailand and helped to establish
the present Rama Thai dynasty.
Other clansman were famous pirates in the South
China seas, including the man known as Koxinga,
the most famous of the clan in the last four
hundred years.

: i can't seen to find any information about it. it it appears not to be common in Australia. my father immigrated to australia from malaysia, his family before that immigrated to malaysia from china.
