My Chinese name is also Louie, with the same meaning, "thunder". Since I was born in the USA (Salt Lake City, Utah) I use the American name. My complete Chinese name is Louie Wei Fong.

I know that my father had relative in San Francisco, and that is part of which I am searching.

My father's name was Louie Sun On or Louie Gar Sheung. He settled in Hailey, Idaho and later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he met and married my mother, Georgia Mae Jung.

My father was from Hoi San. I know that I still had some cousins in Salt Lake City. They owned a restaurant called the New Eastern. My father had owned several restaurants, Moon Garden and Hong Kong Low.

I don't if this helps to identify my family.

I have a web site with some family history on my father. Please see:

: It means "thunder," and other ways of spelling it are Lui, Luey, Loui, and in Mandarin it is Lei2. If anyone reading this is from Canton, let's see if we're related.

: Family in a nutshell: My family currently resides in San Francisco, CA. My grandfather came over with a wife and two children. By the time the children were about 20, he had two more (one being my dad) Now the family has 3 boys and one girl. After his first wife died he went back to China and found another wife, when another son was born in SF. Now, two sons and the daughter live in SF, the stepson last heard of in NY or NJ, and the eldest son passed away with his family currently living in Monterey Park near Los Angeles, CA. We are a part of the Kwong/Louie/Fong assn. in San Francisco Anyone know anything or are a part of this? Thank you.
