: Grandfather was George Goon and Quong Lee. Both from China, both dead for 20+ years, both came to Baltimore, but I am not able to find out where or when or anything about my roots. Anyone know what Goon may stand for?

: Thanks,

Linda,
There is an important Goon that came to Seattle Washington in the 1800's. The Goon name is one of the early spellings of the surname, "Yuen" or "Nguyen". When Mr. Goon came to America, there were a lot of spellings of family names that have since changed. The source of that name came from Toishan District in Kwangtung provice.
