: yes, thaksin was half native thai, and half-teochew

Yeah, the fact that he is half Thai half Teochew, it doen't mean that he should be claimed as Teochew Thai King. Well, I am not nationalistic, but saying from what i think.

There are more than ethnicity that mattered at that time. Taksin was grwn Thai, not Teochew. He served as a bureacrat during the Ayudhaya period until he recieved the highest position as the Tak governor. When Ayudhaya was collapsing, he as the honest and loyal soldier fought for freeing Thai from the Burmese. Then he kind of appointed himself King for a short period before he went crazy at the end of his rule. He was executed for his craziness of claiming himself the next Buddha. Then the Bangkok period was established on the opposite bank of the river by his soldier.

This is a brief history of him. It is believed that he tried to show himself Chinese more when the Kingdom needed to trade with China at that time. That's why his half ethnicity of Chinese is so publicised.

Anyway, just for your information.

Paul
