You can find the origin of the surname Zhu from www.chineseroots.com by selecting Advanced Search. Enter Zhu and select Hanyu Pinyin. The first surname listed is Zhu.

: I have some friends of Chinese (or Taiwanese?) origin, that want to know the meaning, genealogy or whatever be possible to know about their surnames. They have since some years ago lost all contact with their family in Taiwan, and have no means of having such information. Their surname is Chu, as is written in the documents, the boys have the surname Wen-Chu, and the girls, Mei-Chu. They are all sons of the same father (Chinese/Taiwanese?) and the same mother (Brazilian), and their father died in a trip to China some years ago. His name was Shig Wen-Chu, and his mother was Ah Mei-Li. All we know about these names is that Chu is written with the character (zhu1), meaning "red, vermillion, cinnabar". A dictionary cites
: "Zhu Xi - Song Dinasty Neoconfucianist", witten with the same character. We appreciate any help.

: Thanks in advance
