"Discovering Family Stories:a Free Chinese Family History Workshop " is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, 2002 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Chinese Culture Center. It is located at 750 Kearny St. (Holiday Inn building - Between Clay & Washington St.) in San Francisco Chinatown. Speakers will be Jeanie Low (Author, China Connection:Finding Ancestral Roots for Chinese in America) and Mel P.Thatcher. Mr. Thatcher is the Area Manager for Asia with the Genealogical Society of Utah (Author, Chinese Genealogies; A Preliminary Inquiry Into the Origins of the Ah Fongs of Idaho; Selected Sources for Late Imperial China on Microfilm at the Genealogical Society of Utah). There will be a Special Presentation by participants of the "In Search of Roots" program that helps Chinese American young adults learn about their family origins and travel to ancestral villages.

Sponsored by : Chinese Historical Society of America, The Chinese Culture Foundation and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Attendance includes free admission to the Chinese Historical Society of American Museum on Saturday Afternoon (3/30/2002). Workshop will be in English with Chinese translators. Light refreshments served.
