I come from a fairly large clan of Louis whose ancestors originally settled in Calgary Alberta, Canada in the 1920's. I am now the third generation of 6 since my grandparents landed here. I too am very curious as to the origin of our last name however I can honestly say that I haven't really done any research. We have truly become part of the Canadian melting pot and blended with other ethnic origins. I will, as time permits, try to learn more. Good luck in your journey!
