You do have Chinese origin based on your "surname" Quimson. However, it does not mean "Golden Mountain" nor did it originate from near Korea. The majority of Chinese-Filipinos' ancestors came from Fujian Province. Quim is a Hokkien dialect pronunciation and it may mean "gold", but "son" is not "mountain" but means "grandson". My book "You are Royalty, A Guide to Your Chinese Ancestor" does explain the origins of Filipino Chinese "surnames", and also contain a short list. : Hi, I'm looking for any information about the surname Quimson. It's believed to be Chinese in origin.

: Those in our family are often mistaken to be Chinese. Also when my father was immigrating to the States his physican said something about it meaning 'Golden Mountain' and possibly originating from northeastern, near the border with Korea.

: Variations used by different relatives at various times have included: Quimson, Quimzon, Quimsong, Quimzong.

: Any help would be greatly appreciated. ^^
