Thank you. Yes my dad is Malaysian Cantonese. Interestingly, I knew an Indian with the same surname.

Is Locke an Anglo-Saxon version of Loke?

Thanks for your time.

: Without some background information it is always a guess what a surname can be. I venture to say that LOKE is probably of Malaysian or Singaporean Cantonese origin, whereas in Hong Kong it is spelt Luk. It has the same sound as "6" in Cantonese. This is surname Lu in Mandarin which means "land or continent". Hope that helps.

: : Hi,

: : I've come across information on the surname for LOKE. The information (look up one of those web sites that give you your coat of arms on a mug etc) tells me that it has French and Scottish (Loch, Locke etc) origins. However, I do not know of it's Chinese origins. Does anyone know?

: : Help please! ;) Thanks...
