I recently came across a book on Chinese art which described a kind of ceramic called "Ding ware." It did not say where this particular ceramic was from. My father's family traces back to a town in Hunan that is well known for its ceramics, so I was curious to know whether the character "Ding" used to describe this ceramic is the same as my last name, and if "Ding ware" is from Hunan. If anyone could tell me the answer, I'd be most appreciative! :)
