I want to visit Guandong Province again in March and have visited before. My own advice is to have a lot of information to share with your relatives. I'm sure they are interested in new photos, etc of other relatives. Photos given in China stay for decades, if not longer. Bring all the chinese character names that you can. Remember, many men may change names after significant life events, etc, so be prepared to see one or more chinese names come up in the course of a search. A lot of Chinese are very superstitious and it is frequently hard to get them to talk about ancestors. I found my relatives gave us the warmest welcome possible (my father had not been back for over 50 years). Are there any official records one can search for ancestors within Guandong province?
