I was born in roseburg, oregon. I had an aunt named may chin. many of my relatives live in oregon. my grandfather died in 1931. he was a rich merchant from toishan. and he traveled back and forth between china and oregon often. the story goes.... he married 3 times. my grandmother was the 3rd wife. he married her at age 58. she was 16 at the time. from my grandmother, 4 sons were born. my grandfather had a total of 13 sons. my father was number 10 son. my father once told me my aunt may chin was somehow connected to number 6 son. before the japanese came, my father left china to escape. but number 12 son stayed because of the family business was good. number 12 got stuck in 1949. my father didn't see number 12 for 30 years. in 1979, my father made the trip back and discovered his brother in misery. like you, I would like to know more of my family history.
