: Looking for family and information about my father, Dong Yuen Chu (Peter), b. possibly 1922, entered U.S. possibly late '40s, early '50s. He worked as a seaman before he "jumped ship" in either San Francisco or New York. Lived in NY Chinatown for a while, ended up in Miami, Florida. Married my mom in 1954. Was possibly from Ningbo or outside town...his father was a prosperous farmer with a large farm. My dad went to business school in Shanghai as a young man. Was in the Chinese army, fought against the Japanese. Was wounded. Was married and this wife died in childbirth. Had an uncle who was boatmaster in Hong Kong and that's how he began his tour of the world. My father had six or seven siblings. His parents were dead before he left China. Any information about him or my family there would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
