I think they are one and the same, just pronounced differently.
: I was wondering the same thing regarding the Hu & Wu surname character - If you look at Kelly Hu - of Xmen2 fame, her surname character is also that used for a Wu surname. Does this mean they are the same surname, but are either pronounced Wu or Hu depending on if cantonese or something?
