My last name is 'Ting'. The difference between 'Ting' & 'Ding' is the interpretation from different part of China. 'Ding' is exactly the pronounciation from the Chinese word in mandarin. However 'Ting' is used in some places, such as in Hong Kong. However,'Ting' and 'Ding' means the same surname.
