My gg grandfather, JAMES FOE was born in china, as far as i can find out he came to usa ( IL ) about 1851 as a stow away with a brother but no name for brother. on his marriage record he named his father as NON GONG but mother was unknown ? can anyone help me with the gong name and why he changed his name. it;s as if he stepped out of china and into IL with no known past. was non or gong the surname????
