Just happen to be looking up my sir name and came across this site my father has the same first name. I dont know much about my family history my father knew all of our relatives, he has also been back to china and to his village. What I have been told by him befor he passed away was the family is Hakka and YIP is also the family name in Cantonise we have family in BC Canada, England and Jamaica WI. as well as Hong Kong. I have met some in England Canada and Hong Kong. from what I have read so far the family comes from Fujian Provence. The sir name Yap has also branched off into Yap Chung, and Yap Sam. who are all related.
