Your family name has Ch'eng with the first tone in pinyin is somewhat related to my family name Xue with the second tone in pinyin. The reason my family name ended up with Set is because I'm Hakka. In Hakka, we pronouce Set. Anyway, there was one famous Ming Dynasty general Zheng Chen Gong of FuZhou province(forgot his orignal name because he changed his name after his father decided to join Chin Dynasty) defended the Dutch invasion away from Taiwan (what the Dutch called it Farmosa) in Ming/Chin Dynasty transition period (16xx AD???). At that time, Taiwan was already infested with Dutch slave recruiters. My great-great-great grandmother Xue ??? was captured by the Dutch for the slavery recruit. Your great-great-great-grandfather risked his life against the poweerful Dutch rifles just to save my ancestor from the Dutch. I guess Xue family owes an honor of appreciation. Thanks.
