I'm writing to see if anyone can help me with my genealogy.
I have a very rare chinese surname of Ying4 (to print, stamp or copy) the chinese character resembles an EP and the name is not listed in the hundred familes surnames.
The story I have been told is that the first Ying was granted the name by an emperor for discovering the process by which to print designs onto silk, therefore giving the name Ying.
Is there anyone who can offer more information about this?
My bloodline resides in northeast china and hundreds of years ago, a split in the family caused half of the clan to move to Korean, whereby they are known as a Im surname.
Can anyone verify this?
-Kai
