Rosalind - I'm not too sure how old you are. But you have to start by asking older people that know where you came from. You will be following your parental line - is that correct? Then ask around, and if you know where some of your relatives are buried, take a photo of the chinese insciption, and ask the people who read Chinese. This should point you in the correct direction.
