My grandfather came from China. When he arrived in Hawaii he signed his name as Shea. My aunty said that his name was Say. I don't know if immigration spelt his name Shea because they did not know the spelling of Chinese names, but rather spelt it by the sound instead. Anyway, I was told that he was from Canton China (Cheung San, Kwangtung etc.). I don't know which city or town. He arrived in Hawaii and married my grandmother Kapahupineakaleikoa Keopuhiwa. My grandfather was said to have been born on 26 August 1861, in China and died 16 of May 1942. My grandfather's dad was born abt 1845 in Canton, and his mother was born abt 1849 in Canton. If anyone might know a little about this please let me know. Thank you for your help.
