Uy is actually a transliteration of the Huang - the 7th most common Chinese surname. Huang literally means yellow. All Huangs are descendants of the great Huang Di. Other variations (because of dialect-language variations) include Hwang, Hung, Ng, Wee, Ung, Ong, Oi, Oei, Ooi. In Vietnamese it is known as Ho�ng or Huỳnh. In Korean, it is known as Hwang, Whang, or Whong.

Uy's that migrated to other countries in South East Asia come from Amoy, nowadays known as Xiamen, E Meng in Hokkien. Actually most early Chinese immigrants to the South East Asian countries come from there too.
