All the concrete information I have to confirm, that I have an ancestor who was born in Canton is a copy of a Birth Certificate. It shows that, John WILLIAMS, a Storekeeper, born in CHINA, was 40yrs, when he married 18yr old Kate SMITH in 1872, in SYDNEY.
John WILLIAMS was my Gr-Gr-Grandfather.
I am visiting Shanghai later in the year, so I was hoping to be able to source a birth certificate of John Williams. I would like to confirm if John had at least one parent of Asian descent, what sort of occupation he had while living there & what date he left China to migrate to N.S.W. Australia.
