Double hyphenated names, especially with "-A-" in the middle are common among the Chinese in Guyana. A history of the original immigrants to British Guiana between 1853 and 1879 is presented at the "Chinese in Guyana" website. It includes a listing of the 39 immigrant ships and the surnames of descendants (to 4 generations) of those immigrants. The book "Cane Reapers" has a detailed descriptioin of the unusual surnames that have evolved for Chinese in Guyana.
