Welcome to The Amazing Mumme Family Website, my name is Glenda Mumme from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. This website is devoted to telling the story of the amazing Mumme Family of Germany, who emigrated from Germany in the 1840's & 1850's to many countries around the world including the United States of America, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. In about 1998 I was contacted by Charles Houston Smith, asking if I had any information about the Mumme family and I was able to give him a brief American Mumme Family Tree and guided him to the book "The Mumme in America. I have been researching the Mumme Family since about 1970. Charles Houston Smith, the husband of Elizabeth Blanche Pelt (a Mumme descendant)created this site and maintained it for several years. During 2001, he was diagnosed with ALS (Motor Neuron Disease), and sadly on 21st February 2002 Charles passed away.
In August 2002 I was asked by the Smith family if I would continue Charle's wonderful work and be the administrator of this site.
