The record indicates that he was named Christen Christensen and initially home christened on the day of his birth, then subsequently formally christened at the church on 5 October 1817.

1866 (age 48+) Having departed Aalborg, Denmark, by water on 16 May 1866, to eventually reach Hamburg, Germany, via Copenhagen and Kiel (see Virginia Christensen Keeler (1901-1970), Some Christensen's Who Came from Thy, published by J. Grant Stevenson, Provo, Utah, 1969, pp. 174-178), the Christensen family left Hamburg on the British ship Kenilworth, 25 May 1866. 1867 (age 50) Card Index to Military Records of the Indian Wars (Utah-Black Hawk Indian War), A-Z, indicating Christen's service in the Gunnison Home Guard as a Private in the Infantry ( page 181, volume 3): FHL film# 0485506.
However, since he did not arrive in Utah until October 1866 (as per the various documents above), the correct dates of service in this card index as well as in the Widow's Affidavit subsequently issued in 1909, page 180, volume 3 (see below, at the end of this document file) should read: 205 days, from 1 April 1867 to 1 November 1867. These dates would then correspond with his son's Laurs near simultaneous dates of service in the Manti Home Guard, found indexed immediately above in this document, page 180, volume 3 (also see Documents of Laurs/Lauritz or Lars Mathias Christian Christensen..., on this website).

The reported father was Jens Christensen from Vester Nielsted, Tolstrup's parish. Ane was subsequently christened in the Vor parish on 10 June 1838.
