Barnoon Cemetery, St Ives |
St. Ives
oldest cemetery, is located on a steep hill overlooking beautiful Porthmeor
Beach. (If I was to buried anywhere other than Western
Australia, Barnoon would be one of my first choices.) Burials prior to the establishment
of Barnoon Cemetery were at Lelant. When Barnoon was closed to burials,
from the late the 1950's, interments then took place at Longstones Cemetery, Carbis Bay.

Crelly Wesleyan Cemetery, Wendron |
After much research and a trip to
Cornwall, I finally tracked down this tiny cemetery at
Crelly, outside Wendron , on a very wet and bitterly cold
day in 2006. Photographs are available upon request for most
of the headstones mentioned in the index, but it is not a
complete transcript as a result of my camera literally
freezing. The cemetery is located in a field next to what
was the Crelly Wesleyan Chapel. I do, however, highly
recommend the journey. Particularly the warmth of, and
the hospitality, coffee and fish pie at the New Inn,
Wendron! [Transcribed by Christine Uphill] STATUS: 31 transcriptions GOOGLE FIELD VIEW |

Towednack Churchyard |
Towednack is about 4 miles from St Ives. It is bounded by the parishes of Zennor, Gulval, Ludgvan & St Ives. It lies in a very scenic part of Cornwall which is steeped in history. It has always held a special significance for me as the birth place of my MARTIN and BERRIMAN ancestors . During a 'pilgrimage' to Towednack in 2006 I became fascinated by the tiny church and the many ghostly mine ruins scattered about the local landscape. Go there, it's worth the trip. The map link below is not to the Church itself but to the nearest turn-off from Towednack Road. [Transcribed by Suezan James-Elliot; Indexed by C. Uphill] |

Wendron Churchyard & Cemetery Wendron is now essentially a farming area not far from the large town of Helston. St Wedrona Church and the New Inn are the major landmarks and are next to one another on the main road. Some of the (extremely old) headstones in the Churchyard are now illegible, however there is also a small cemetery opposite the Church. The War Memorial is just past the main entrance to the Church and is clearly visible from the road. CHURCHYARD STREET VIEW CEMETERY STREET VIEW |
