Sarah Darbyshire was the child of John Darbyshire and Ellen Aldred, and born in 1846.She married John Hodcroft in 1864 and they later moved to Standish.

After the death of John Hodcroft in 1888, Sarah lived in Standish...where her mother came to live with her after the deaths of both their husbands.
