The Webster Connection

In the 1861 census Hugh Glover (b. 1829) has living with him 4 members of the Webster family described as nephews and neices.

In 1824, Ruth Glover, the mother of Hugh has a daughter Mary Ann.

Marriage of George Webster (1)

It was in 1840 that George Webster, a farmer from Rainford married Margaret Gilbert (source IGI)

and they were together in the 1841 census with children Stephen (1) and Ellen (3 Weeks).

However Margaret Websters death is registered in Prescot (Jan Feb Mar) 1841 age 20 (b abt 1821) (source UK BDM) as is the burial of of Ellen Webster and Margaret both aged 1 month.

It is most likely that she died during childbirth of twins or shortly after.

Left with a child, George Webster married Mary Ann Glover in November of the same year, 1841.

and as shown in the 1851 census, has provided him with more children ...

"George and Margaret Gilbert had a son Stephen (B 1840) who married Elizabeth Pye. They had a son also called Stephen (B 1874) who married Rachel Briers and had a daughter Mary Jane. At this time, it is uncertain what happened to George and Mary Ann Webster, they are not yet found in the 1861 census. Indeed several of her *children in 1861 were living with Hugh Glover...registered as nephews and neices.( Including Mary Ann born in 1854)
