Richard Wilding b. abt 1816 - 1879

Jane Wilding b. 1849 - 1909 married John Gudgeon in 1870. The easiest way to follow the history of the Wilding family is in conjunction with Richard Wilding, the father of Jane Wilding.

In 1841 Richard Wilding was living with his brother John and family in Shevington. John Wilding was with his wife Alice and children Mary and Thomas. They were together in the 1851 census in Standish. Richard in 1841 appears to be a lodger. His parents were not present in the same dwelling.

The closest pit to Almond Brook / Shevington at this time was John Taylor Pit and probably is where the Wildings would have worked. (taken from Joseph Dickinson's List of Mines working in 1854)

However next door lived more Wildings, possibly / probably ? the father of Richard with the family split into two neighboring cottages.(speculation ?)
