Otis Blankenship,  Julia Snider,  Julia Blankenship, Julia Brandon, Adam Brandon, Agnes Minzes, Joseph Minzes

We are looking for information on Otis Blankenship.  According to the death certificate of Jesse Campbell Blankenship that was his father's name.  Jesse is found in Pulaski County Missouri in 1850 with his mother Julia (or Julian as written in the census records) as well as Noah , Nathaniel, Edith, Nancy and Elmina Blankenship.  We found the family in Miller County, Missouri in 1860.  They remained in this county until the early to mid 1930's.  Any information would be helpful.  We also need information on Julia's mother Agnes.  Her last name was possibly Snider at one point, as was possibly, Julia's.  Agnes married a Joseph Minzes before leaving Kentucky for Missouri.  Agnes was living in Pulaski County with Julia in 1850.  Julia later married Adam Brandon (after 1850) and went on to have more children.  Julia was still alive in Missouri in 1880.

UPDATE:  I have located a first marriage for Otis (Ota) Blankenship.  The records indicate he married Sally Stowers, August 5, 1815 in Giles County, Virginia.  The county clerk has verified that this information is correct in an email I received 3/10/04.  I am still trying to verify the marriage information on Agnes and Julia.  I have not yet had a reply.  I have located Otis Blankenship in 1840 Gallatin, Saline, Illinois, and 1830 Wayne, Kentucky.  His name was spelled Otis in one and Otay in the other census record.  The family with him was consistent with what we know about them in 1850.

UPDATE!!  On a recent research trip to the Missouri Historical Society in Columbia I found a transcription of marriage records from Wayne County, Kentucky.  Included in those records were the confirmations of both Julia  "Judy" Snider marrying Oatis Blankenship and Agnes Kinder (possibly Snider-need to see original) to Joseph Minzes.  The marriage record for Julia states that the surety bond was paid by Joseph Minzes.  See my family history book for transcription of the records. I also located Joseph Minzes (Mings) living quite close by Otis Blankenship in Wayne County, Kentucky in 1830.  I still need to locate where all these folks died and were buried!!  I also need to know who Agnes was married to first and what her maiden name was.

UPDATE:  I just returned from a research trip to Monticello and Frankfort, Kentucky.  I have copies of the original marriage bonds for both Julia and Agnes.  I also have copies of deeds involving Agnes.  I transcribed and copied quite a bit of information, but none of it answered the questions about Julia's father or Agnes's husbands.  I did lay to rest the idea that Agnes's last name was Kinder.  The marriage bond states Snider.  Julia's marriage bond states Oto Blankenship and Julia Snider.  Unfortunately, the book containing the original marriage records was stolen from the courthouse so we will never be able to see the marriage record.  I hope the person that took that record realizes what a loss that is for those of us trying to research our own families.  I have also sent out a request for the land patent issued to Agnes on Beaver Creek.  Perhaps that will give me more clues.
