Sarah Townsend Boice

We are looking for the burial place for Sarah Townsend Boice.  Her husband Samuel and her son Isaac (one of a set of twins-Isaac and Abraham) are both buried in Click's Cemetery in Nevada, Missouri.  We were unable to locate a grave or tombstone for Sarah.  Family tradition says she was feeble in the mind and was placed in a home in Nevada when the family moved to Kansas in the 1901-1903 era.  She apparently died in that home.  We have checked the records for the Nevada State Hospital Cemetery there in Nevada, Missouri,  but she was not listed among those that died and were buried in unmarked graves in the Asylum cemetery.  We're hoping she was buried next to her son and husband but found no record of this.

UPDATE 8/10/03:  While on a research trip to the Missouri Historical Society I found the following obituaries for Sarah Boice.  Note the different name spellings.

Obituary in Nevada Weekly Post, Friday June 3, 1904,2/6: Death of Mrs. Boyce, an old citizen passed away Tuesday morning. "Mrs. Sarah Boyce died at the Asylum Tuesday, age 78 years. She had been in that institution three years, her mind having given away to the infirmities of age. Deceased had lived in this vicinity for 24 years and was known as a good Christian woman, she being a member of the M. E. Church, South. Mrs. Boyce was the mother of 12 children, all of whom lived to be grown. Nine of her children survive her, among whom are Mrs. Al Overton, and David Boyce, a former well known stockman of near this place." (Copy in file)

Obituary in The Nevada Daily Mail, Wednesday June 1, 1904, 1/6: Mrs. Boise's Funeral To-morrow Morning. "Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Sarah Boise will be held at the First M. E. Church tomorrow morning at 9:30. The sermon will be conducted by Rev. Cosper. All friends are invited to attend the services. The remains will be buried at the Click graveyard." (Copy in file)

We now know that Sarah Townsend Boice is buried next to her husband, son and granddaughter in an unmarked grave.
