Meringue Topping

 

Use the whites of 2 eggs for topping for an 8" pie, 3 egg whites for a 9" or 10" pie.  Beat very stiffly, adding 2 T granulated or powdered sugar per egg .  Add a dash of salt and 1/2 t. baking powder while beating.  Spread on cool pie and bake very slowly until light golden brown.--Shirley Henton
