A book published in 1988 called "Coffee Made Her Insane", which is a compilation of news and ads from old Minnesota newspapers, contained the following article:

Stillwater Gazette
June 27, 1871
SOMETHING NEW

Moore & Kinsella, in Lake House Block, have just received a stock of "Cold Water Soap", which is warranted to wash clothes as clean in cold water without boiling. It takes no more soap than the old method. Besides there is no rinsing or boiling over a hot stove, which is such a dread to the ladies this warm weather.

On December 7, 1872 a fire broke out in Stillwater, burning five buildings at a loss of several thousand dollars. The Moore and Kinsella grocery store was destroyed. A full-page article appeared in the Stillwater Gazette describing the disaster, and the following notes were written about the grocery store:

"The stock of Moore and Kinsella was hastily tumbled into the street, as were the goods of Mr Miller and the families residing in that building. The Lake House is one of the oldest land marks of Stillwater, having been erected about twenty-five years ago. It was owned by Mr. Carli, and valued at about $6,000 on which there was no insurance".

"Moore and Kinsella have taken the large and commodious rooms in the new Wolf block, and have most of their stock already removed"

"Moore and Kinsella are selling groceries cheaper than any other store in town. People are pretty generally aware of this fact, too judging by the amount of goods sold by this firm. Try them and see".
