Grisham Durham and family moved to DeKalb and then to Carroll County, GA. In 1842, he went to Lawrence County, AR, with most of his children. Mary DURHAM (1819-1854), his daughter, married William Washington MERRELL and stayed in Carroll County, GA. He has a son named Kindred DURHAM (from John's will) 2

 

Notes:

John and Mary Durham died on the same day of the same year. From the Greenville Mountaineer, April 15, 1837, which gives this account: "Departed this life on Tuesday, the 4th instant, in Spartanburg District, Mr. John Durham, aged 86, and Mary, his wife, aged 83. They had been upwards of fifty years members of the Baptist Church at Green Pond, and their truly Christian deportment had marked their course. In death as in life, they seemed one, both being interred in the same grave." (Information thanks to Robert Davidson)  Mary Carlton was the daughter of John CARLTON (b. 1730 in VA; d. 1810 in Spartanburg, SC) and Agatha LINDSEY.
