Mary Greeley and Lawrence Clinton
MARY GREELEY & LAWRENCE CLINTON

Lawrence Clinton had an alliance with Mary Greely circa 1676. Ipswich Town Records
show the following birth: "Jacob, son of Mary Greeley, born the First of April, 1677."

Although the Genealogist, Douglas Lines Jacobus, in "Families of Ancient New Haven"
shows a child born c 1577, as a child of Mary Wooden, this may well be Jacob, son of
Mary Greeley. The court called Lawrence the parent and ordered payment of "20 pence
per week in corn". This was for the child's keep.

There is confusion about this branch of Clintons and this child may be the first-born
of Lawrence Clinton albeit without the benefit of matrimony. Lawrence does not seem
to have been very diligent in that respect at any time.

There was a marriage between a Jacob Clinton and Elizabeth Moulton, daughter of James
Moulton. A child, Jacob Clinton was born on Dec. 28, 1705. There was a death of a Jacob
Clinton on Oct 17, 1720 in Ipswich, MA. How these all fit together is not certain.

Further research will be done on this branch. Any information that can be provided
will be appreciated.
