Thomas Clinton (2nd) was born in New Haven area on June 20, 1719, the son of Thomas Clinton (1st) and Hope Downs.. On August 10, 1743 he married Martha Stevens, daughter of James and Mary Stevens. Her Mother's maiden name is not known. Martha was born November 11, 1709.
They resided in Derby, New Haven County, CT.
Their four children,born in New Haven, were:
They attended Church of England (Christ Church in Stratford and West Haven). On April 7, 1755, Thomas and his brother, Simeon Clinton (Clenton) took the Freemen's Oath at New Haven.
Thomas died December 26, 1759 at the age of 40. In February 1760, administration of his estate was granted
to his widow, Martha, and she became guardian of the four children.

In June 21, 1790 Ebenezer Clinton, appeared in court on behalf of Martha Clinton, administratrix of the estate of Thomas Clinton. Martha died after 1794.
