Bertha Daellenbach

     Bertha Daellenbach was born on 8 November 1885 in Dorchester, Clark County, Wisconsin.¹ She was the daughter of Johannes Dällenbach and Elisabeth Lee Hodel. See a picture of the Daellenbach family taken circa 1897. Bertha, age 13, was enumerated in the household of her parents on the 1900 Federal Census in Dorchester. I do not know if she was attending school since no one on the page was marked for attending school.² Follow the link to see the census image. Bertha married William D. Cox on 10 June 1908 in Dorchester.¹
          William, age 25, and Bertha, age 24, were enumerated on the 1910 Federal Census in Proctorknot Township, St. Louis County, Minnesota. They rent their house.³ Follow the link to see the census image. Bertha and William may have had numerous children but I only know the name of one child, Dorothy.⁴
          William, age 36, and Bertha, age 35, were enumerated on the 1920 Federal Census at 1st Street in Proctorknot Township, St. Louis County, Minnesota. Their daughter, Dorothy (should be about 6 years old) is not listed with them.⁵ Follow the link to see the census image.
          William, age 46, and Bertha, age 44, were enumerated on the 1930 Federal Census in Proctor Village, St. Louis County, Minnesota. Also enumerated in this household was their daughter, Dorothy, age 16. They own their house (valued at $3500) and they have a radio.⁶ Follow the link to see the census image. Bertha was listed as a sister of Emil Daellenbach in the obituary published on 17 October 1948 in an unknown Great Falls Newspaper. Click on the icon to read a transcription of the text.⁷ By 1948, the family had moved to Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota.⁷ Bertha died on 22 July 1970.⁸
