James Jahn Dies in One-Car Mishap An 18-year-old Brighton youth died Wednesday at the University Hospital in Ann Arbor from injuries he received in a one-car mishap near Howell the previous day (Tuesday, Dec. 17). Dead is James T. Jahn, 18, 2748 Tim Ave., Brighton. Livingston County Heriif's [sic] deputies said Jahn was traveling west on the I-96 freeway about one mile south-east of Howell when his car skidded on a frost-covered portion of the highway. Deputies said his car struck a guard rail and he was thrown from the car. He was taken to McPherson Community Health Center in Howell, and at 9 a.m. he was transferred to the University Hospital, where he died before noon. The accident occurred at 7:22 a.m. Jahn was born in San Antonio, Texas, August 11, 1950 the son of Edward and Billie (Downing) Jahn. He was a student technician with the Michigan State Highway department. Surviving are his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Millslagle, Tacoma, Wash., Janette, at home; two brothers Thomas and Edward Louis Jr., both at home; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Molly Downing, Fort Worth, Texas; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Antoinette Jahn, of Brighton; and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Tri Lakes Baptist Church, the Reverend Bruce Stine officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Brighton.
