     Edward Louis Johann Leitha Jahn Senior was born on 11 March 1915 in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.3,4,5,6 He was the son of Vaclav Johann Jahn von Neumark and Antoinette Cecilia Pliska.1,2 Edward, age 4, was enumerated in the household of his parents on the 1920 Federal Census at 4609 South 20th Street in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.           Edward married Billie Jane Downing, daughter of Thomas Oscar Downing and Molly Verona Kennemer, on 6 December 1942 in Frederick, Tillman County, Oklahoma. He was 27 and she was 20.2,6 They met in September 1942 on a blind date. In order to marry, Billie Jane had to quit Scott and White's Nursing School. Edward was Catholic and Billie Jane was Protestant. They also received a "Catholic bishop's dispensation (Bishop of Oklahoma City on December 3, 1942) when the usual requirements for Protestants marrying Catholics were suspended because of the war emergency."9 They renewed their marriage vows on December 6, 1993.10,11 Edward and Billie Jane had 5 children. These children are Antoinette Rae, Thomas Leitha, Edward Louis, Janette Ellen and James Thomas. In 1968, Edward and Billie Jane were living in Brighton, Livingston County, Michigan.12 His child, James, died 18 December 1968 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan.12 He died from injuries when his car "skidded on a frost-covered portion of the highway" and then hit a guard rail.12
          Edward graduated in 1990 from East Texas State University (ETSU) in Commerce, Hunt County, Texas with a PhD. He had received his MS from ETSU in 1976. Some of the other schools he attended include: Wayne State University (1971, BA & BS, WSU is in Detroit, Michigan), U.S. Military Academy, Indiana University and University of Michigan.6,13 Edward was mentioned in a newspaper article published in the Scott and White Hospital Employee Newsletter.           Edward died on 9 November 1998 at his home in Temple, Bell County, Texas.3,14 He was 83 years old. His Social Security Number was 507-32-2953 and was issued in Nebraska.3 According to the SSDI, his last residence was in Temple, Bell County, Texas.3 He was buried at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Franklin County, Texas.
